MOAT Online Course

The University of Waterloo’s School of Pharmacy and the Centre for Extended Learning are pleased to offer a limited-time special discount on the Management of Oral Anticoagulation Therapy (MOAT) online course.

The MOAT program provides pharmacists, registered nurses and nurse practitioners with the knowledge and skills to effectively and safely manage oral anticoagulation therapy under a medical directive. It has been offered for over 10 years and has provided training for more than 300 health care professionals.

The original MOAT course (MOAT-experiential) consists of two components: an online, self-paced learning module, and an experiential mini-clinical rotation comprised of three visits to the anticoagulation clinic at the Centre for Family Medicine Family Health Team in Kitchener, Ontario.

A second MOAT course (MOAT-online) has been designed to allow learners to complete the entire course online. After completing the self-paced learning section, participants
will complete simulated patient interactions, which provide the learner with practice interacting with patients to properly assess and manage warfarin therapy.
