Pain Killers

Aspirin

It is recommended that people on warfarin avoid aspirin or aspirin containing medicines as these can increase the risk of bleeding. Some people with a history of stroke or heart attack may be put on aspirin and warfarin. This combination should only be taken on the recommendation of a doctor.

Anti inflammatories

Diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen, indomethacin, ketorolac, piroxicam are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents. These medicines can increase the risk of bleeding and alternative painkillers such as acetaminophen or codeine should be used instead.

Acetaminophen

This is safe to use when taking warfarin but very high doses can increase the effect of warfarin but not at standard doses.
